Henry Horrell- Associate Artist

Born in Dorset, Henry moved to Wales to pursue his passion for ecology and natural sciences, graduating from Bangor University with a BSc and pursuing a career in conservation. He later returned to his first love of all thing’s music, and now works as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, recording artist and community musician. Over the last 10 years he has worked in a range of community and health care settings, with differently abled and vulnerable young people, babies, toddlers and adults, using music as a medium to improve mental health, self-confidence and connection to nature. Current projects include working for Pontio’s community arts outreach programme in the children ward of Bangor hospital, where he brings music and song to the wards and waiting rooms. Visiting artist with Hi-Jinx theatre company, Neurodivergent band project ‘Bwthyn Sonig’ (Sonic Cottage/Bothy) with music charity ‘Ty Cerdd’, Dementia care-home music/dance projects with Dance Collective North Wales, after-school band clubs at Dolgarrog community centre as well as session work, gigs and composition commissions. He greatly enjoys having been affiliated with Small Things Dance for over 10 years as an associate artist, and has recently been working with them more closely as a musical practitioner on the wards in Alder Hey children’s Hospital. He continues to develop his community-based practice, building on experience in youth creativity programs, musical theatre and youth clubs He has experience in band leading, song writing, music education, instrument creation, walkabout performance and commissions for online content and has performed with a diverse range of artists from Radio 2 Folk award winners 9 Bach to Brazilian Capoeira Masters in Theatres, on festival Stages, TV and in challenging outdoor locations, in all weathers!
